The environmental impact of traditional fossil jet fuel is immense. To reduce greenhouse gas emissions sustainable aviation fuels (SAFs) have attracted increasing interest from the aviation industry. In comparison to fossil fuels, sustainable aviation fuels have the potential to reduce jet emissions by up to 80% for SAF jets. SAF is made from sustainable resources, such as waste oils from plants and animals. In addition, solid household waste that would usually go to landfill may also be used, as well as forestry waste and energy crops. Sustainable aviation is a growing industry which is attracting investments from startups and established energy companies alike. The field is expected to grow from $66 million in 2020 to $15,307 million by 2030.
