Quantum technologies offer new opportunities for enhanced communication in space. One example is the development of entangled photons and satellites that has increased the transmission speed of high-definition photographs and videos. This allows astronauts to communicate with experts on earth considerably quicker and would serve as big improvement to space travel and exploration. Quantum technologies can be applied in a wide range of settings. They are based on the interaction of molecules, atoms, and smaller particles. Quantum technologies can be split into four application areas: quantum communication, quantum simulation, quantum computing, and quantum metrology and sensing.
