The tactical “cloud”, also called “combat cloud”, has been revealed as the latest conceptualization of Network Centric Warfare (NCW). It combines operational requirements and technological advancements to make military operations more efficient through networking. This has led to a transformation of operational functions in the aviation cockpit distinguished by improved resilience and effectiveness – achieved by state-of-the-art capabilities of digital networks, such as commercial cloud technologies. Cloud computing has many advantages: it allows for widespread and convenient on-demand network access to a large supply of shared computing resources, such as networks, servers, applications, and services. These resources can be made available with little delay through largely automated processes and limited manual intervention or service provider interaction.
